Acer may not be the first manufacturer that springs to mind when you think about leading manufacturers of mobile phones, but that hasn’t stopped them coming to market with a handset that currently boasts the best spec on any officially confirmed device running on the Android operating system. For fear of repeating ourselves, it is worth stating once again, that the Android OS is going to be big news, as 2009 comes to a close and we look forward to...

Blackberry Bold 2 9700 Review

For too long now, BlackBerry have been missing an all doing, all performing, top end smartphone in their line up, something that could take on the upstart devices from the likes of Nokia and others, and compete not just in terms of functionality, but in terms of specification, too. In today’s market, it is almost unforgiveable that a newly released mobile device could lack 3G connectivity, it should be a nailed on expectation in all but the most basic of...

To some, it seems as if Google is looking to take over the world. They have the premier internet search engine, an excellent email system, support a popular blogging platform, own the most well known video site and have a vested  interest in the fastest growing mobile phone operating system, Android. LG BL20 Chocolate Review

The new LG BL20 Chocolate phone has a lot to live up to. Because, for all its faults and annoying quirks, the predecessor, the LG KG800, was one of LG’s top selling handsets. With a basic camera, simple Bluetooth, small screen, and annoyingly sensitive navigation keys, the LG KG800 Chocolate phone sold on looks, more than anything else. And to be fair, it did look good. As part of the exclusive LG Black Label range, we can expect LG to...

Nokia vs Apple: Nokia takes legal action against iPhone

Nokia has today taken legal action against Apple and taken the gloves off in the mobile phone wars. The complaint was filed with the Delaware Federal District Court claiming that the iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. "The basic principle in the mobile industry is that those companies who contribute in technology development to establish standards create intellectual property, which others then need to compensate for" said Ilkka Rahnasto, Vice President, Legal & Intellectual Property...

Blackberry Storm 2 9520 Review

When the original BlackBerry Storm launched on Vodafone back in November last year, the interest around the handset was almost fever pitch. For so many people, rightly or wrongly, the Storm gave Vodafone a leading alternative device to the ever popular iPhone. A touchscreen handset, built around the legendary communication options that BlackBerry offer. And in the early days, it was hard for Vodafone to keep up with demand, as any stock in the stores was going straight out onto...

There have been a good number of mobile phones announced, released and rumoured recently. New phones, new styles, new technologies, we love it, however, as we cast our eyes over the recent rumour and announcements, we are going to start not with a mobile phone, but with an operating system. For a lot of people, operating systems on mobile phones mean little, if anything at all. But as the market develops and phones become more capable of offering a higher level of services,...
