The guys behind the phenomenally successful Angry Birds app, Rovio, have announced that across all platforms the app has been downloaded over 200 million times.
There are currently three Angry Birds titles, the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. Currently the apps are available to download on Android, iPhone, and Symbian, with a version for Windows Phone due sometime in June.
In addition to the runaway success of the games, the Angry Birds brand has also created a variety of spin-offs, with merchandise such as t-shirts and soft toys also selling in their millions. A television series and film based on the popular game are also planned.
Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, said: “The growing number of fans gives us more incentive to keep creating fresh, fun and engaging Angry Birds experiences and making them available to everyone.”
