The new HTC range of devices, the Desire HD and Desire Z have been hogging a lot of the headlines in recent weeks, which has meant some other devices have been feeling a distinct lack of love from HTC. In particular, users of the HTC Legend have been especially patient, waiting for a firmware update, bring Android 2.2 to the handset. Well, the good news is HTC have confirmed that the Legend may have slipped down the priority list a little, but it is still an important part of the product line up, and to that end HTC are planning an update to Android OS 2.2, also known as FroYo, in the coming weeks.
The update will initially be for unbranded handsets, so users of the device in the UK who purchased a Legend on the Vodafone network will have to wait a little longer for the update to come through. As with other firmware updates for HTC devices, the update will be sent Over The Air to devices.
The announcement was made on the HTC fan page on Facebook, where HTC stated “The update has been progressing quite well, and in the coming weeks those with unbranded Legends should be receiving the update. For those with carrier-branded versions of the Legend, there will be a slightly longer wait.”
It is advisable to download the update via a WiFi network when it comes through, if possible. If you do download over the mobile network, make sure you have an adequate data plan in place.
