Rockstar has launched a version of its popular and controversial crime simulation game, Grand Theft Auto III, for iOS and Android devices.
The launch is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of the title first time round, and the gameplay is much as it was when first launched, with just a few changes made to make it more compatible with mobile gameplay and a touchscreen interface.
The game features a free roaming environment, with multiple missions to accomplish, as you roam around stealing, killing and shooting pretty much what you want and who you please.
Rockstar have included an autosave feature, as well as a mission retry option, so you can go back and kill, steal and shoot the characters again if you failed to get it right first time round.
As well as optimised, customisable controls for touchscreen phones, with the Android version you can control the game using external game pads, connected to your phone via the USB port.
The game is only available for a selected range of Android handsets, including the HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon, Samsung Galaxy R and T-Mobile G2x. Android Tablets supported include the Acer Iconia, Asus eee Pad Transformer, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S and the Toshiba Thrive.
For iOS devices, the title will work on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, iPad and iPad 2, and the fourth gen iPod Touch, running iOS 4.3 or later.
The game is a snip at just £2.99 from the Apple App Store, and can be downloaded from the Android Market, where it costs just £3.21
