The HTC Desire HD may have only been on the market just a week or so, but HTC have already rolled out a software upgrade for the device.
Initial reports from early adopters have suggested some Desire HD devices have had issues with the proximity sensor, a rather important feature on a touchscreen device, as it disables the screen when held against the face, so calls are not accidentally ended.
Although HTC have not specifically mentioned the proximity sensor in the upgrade, it is fully expected that the issue has been resolved, as well as increasing screen control and improving photo messaging compatibility. Whilst it is surprising that a new device is already receiving a firmware upgrade, it is good to see HTC on top of the device and working hard to bring an optimum experience to their users. Other manufacturers could learn a thing or two.

When you say other manufacturers I guess you mean Sony Ericsson because seriously they are awful. How long have X10 users waited for an update to 2.1 Android from 1.6 when 2.2 is available and 3.0 expected. Shocking from Sony Ericsson and the amount of delay as it was due in June is just not good enough considering it came to the market with 1.6 when others laready had 2.0. So unfair!

Yes, Sony Ericsson were in mind, also Motorola, you only need to see the comments posted on their Facebook page to see what owners of Motorola handsets think of the delays in getting updates out to their devices.
