HTC Desire

Ever since the 2.2 FroYo update for Android OS was released, Android handset users have been anxiously waiting for news from the manufacturers of their device, to see when the update would be applied to their device.

If you are the owner of an (unbranded*) HTC Desire, then now is the time to rejoice, as HTC have stated that they will be rolling out the 2.2 update for the Desire across Europe, starting from this weekend.

As well as including all the FroYo goodies, HTC have also added a few extras of their own with an update to the HTC Sense UI. Extra features that will come to the Desire include 720p video capture, iTunes music sync via HTC Sync, improved multi-language keyboard, enhanced Caller ID and HTC's App Share widget.

Owners of the HTC Desire will be notified via the device when the update is available for download. Installing the update will not erase any existing user content, but it is recommended to download the update via WiFi to avoid any possible data charges, as the file is rather large.

*Owners of network branded HTC Desire handsets will have to wait a little while longer for the update, as networks will need to modify the latest firmware before releasing it to their customers.
