Today, 24th July, Google are encouraging people to record their life in a day, in a unique social experiment. The idea is for people to record their activities as they go about their everyday business, and then upload the videos to YouTube. All content needs to be uploaded by the 31st July. Once done, a team of people will review the videos, and the most compelling content will be turned into a social documentary film, produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin MacDonald.

If your video is chosen to be part of the final film, then you will be credited as a co-director, with the possibility of attending the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. What you decide to film doesn’t need to be dramatic, the idea is just to film your day, and share what you do with others. If you feel a bit nervous about that, you could always look at the questions that have been posted on the YouTube site where the experiment is detailed, these are filming yourself talking about what do you love, what do you fear, what makes you laugh, and what is in your pocket, and any significance behind the objects you keep with you.

Given that most mobile devices these days will record video clips, some to a higher standard than others, the opportunities to film certain aspects of your day could not be easier. All the information you need can be found on the YouTube site, and below is a brief video clip for the event.
