Napster, one of the most recognisable names in digital music, has announced the launch of its new mobile music streaming service, giving users instant access to the Napster catalogue of over 15 million digital music tracks, for just £10 per month.
The £10 plan allows mobile users unlimited access to the Napster mobile service, and is available on major smartphone platforms, iOS and Android. The subscription service gives users access to online streaming from the Napster music catalogue, as well as the ability to save music to play offline. Napster's other services such as playlists, radio and Napster recommendations will also be available.
Music can be streamed both via WiFi and the mobile network, although for anyone without a serious data plan, the latter option is not recommended. In addition to the £10 per month charge for mobile users, there is also a £5 per month home entertainment service. This is streaming only, and gives access to the Napster catalogue via PC's, Internet connected TV's and wireless home music systems.
Commenting on the service, Napster vice president of European sales and marketing, Thorsten Schliesche, said: “Napster strives to offer music lovers the opportunity to listen to music without barriers and with complete freedom, empowering users to take the music they love and discover on the move and access via multiple platforms.”
The Napster Application is available to download from the Android Market and the Apple App Store.
