Nokia N96 On Sale 1st October

Reports confirm that Nokia have announced their much anticipated N96 handset will be on sale in the UK 1st October 2008. Already talked about in the same breath of Apple’s iPhone this looks to be Nokia’s closest answer to date, its packed with features, a few highlights below, for more check out our article on the Nokia N96 back in February.

Boasting a 5.0 Megapixel camera (*take note Apple) with a Carl Ziess Tessar lens and auto focus the N96 delivers fantastic quality images. MP3 Player and Radio with built in 3D speakers, A-GPS Maps and WLAN for full internet browsing and email.

16GB of built in memory expandable to 32GB, Nokia say this is sufficient to store 40 hours of Video, this kind of capacity combined with the N96’s high quality 2.8 inch display and integrated DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) brings to life the first mobile phone truly optimised for viewing videos, gaming and watching live TV, it even comes with a fold out stand to tilt the handset for your viewing pleasure.

It really does look like a rival to the iPhone, the N96 doesn’t feature a touchscreen but has everything else you could possibly need and perhaps touchscreen lovers will decide the N96 is more accessible and better value considering it will be available across network providers unhindered by the O2 exclusivity of the iPhone, let us know what you think? in comments.
