Nokia N96Hot off the press in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress comes the announcement of Nokia’s much anticipated N96, the next step after the incredibly popular N95. Nokia’s N96 certainly pulls no punches and this time it really looks the business.

The design is in keeping with many of the designs recently released by Nokia - with a smooth flat black gloss finish with subtle touches of silver.

It packs a big display screen as well coming in at 2.8″ which is just as well considering Nokia are pushing it as the multimedia phone, ‘personal window to entertainment’ which targets video and TV so heavily. Covering popular media formats such as MPEG4, Windows Media Video and Flash Video will make it video easily accessible to many users.

The Nokia N96 also features a DVB-H receiver which in some regions will be able to receive live TV with an up to date TV guide. With its massive 16 GB (gigabytes) of memory and an expandable memory slot you will be able to store up to 40 hours of video content as well as the usual music and photo files which you can take with its 5 mega-pixel camera. The memory slot allows for a total capacity of 24 GB.

One nice new feature is the N96’s kick stand which allows you to effectively stand the device up for hands-free viewing.

The Nokia N96 would not be complete without great sound features. It comes complete with 3D surround sound so you can truly be immersed in the action on screen.

Like the N95 the new N96 features sat nav with A-GPS using rich maps for a complete experience.

The Nokia N96 is due in Q3 of 2008 and it is sure to be a red hot handset with already anticipation levels high.
