Opera recently demo'd Opera Mini running on the Apple iPhone at the Mobile World Congress, and the availability of the app has come one step closer, as Opera have announced it has been submitted to the Apple App store for approval.
When Opera Mini was demo'd, it showed to be up to five times faster than the default Safari browser, thanks to the way Opera Mini uses servers that compress data on the fly by up to 90%, deleting unnecessary HTML coding from web pages, which enables pages to render faster on the phone.
Opera Mini has proven to be a very popular application, and is available on most java phones, as well as Symbian and Android devices. Let's hope the Apple approval process doesn't take too long, allowing iPhone users the opportunity to use Opera Mini on their handsets. To whet the appetite here is a video of Opera Mini running on an iPhone 3G S.
