Another manufacturer with plenty to say for themselves is Samsung. The highlight of their announcements is the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD.

With a huge 3.7” OLED touchscreen, supporting up to 16 million colours, the new Omnia HD is a smart looking handset. Running on S60 5th edition, optimised for touch, the Omnia HD brings a powerful set of features to the table, including and 8.0 megapixel camera, and high quality video recording, 720p HD at 24fps. It’s just incredible the advances that has happened in mobile camera phones over the last few years. There are two versions of the HD announced, one including internal memory of 8GB, the other with 16GB, both expandable with Micro SD memory cards.

After making a big noise with the Omnia HD, Samsung also announced the imminent release of the S8300 Ultra Touch. A fully touch screen phone, the S8300 is slide format, offering input also with a standard alphanumeric keypad. Features include an integrated 8.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, and WVGA resolution video capture at 30 fps. Planning to build on the popularity of the first Tocco, the Ultra Touch offers a wide range of connectivity options including support for HSDPA up to 7.2Mbps.

Not content with trying to grab the glory in the imaging stakes, Samsung also offered two handsets in their updated BEAT music range. The first, the M7600 Beat DJ is a 3G handset, with full touchscreen operation running on the very polished TouchWiz interface. Samsung are using Bang and Olufsen speakers in the device, which are designed to offer optimum performance at low power consumption. One of the key features of the M7600 DJ is something called Beat DJ. This application is a software mixer, so you can mix in parts of a tune, and apply different effects including scratching, sampling and filtering.
Alongside the M7600 Beat DJ Samsung also demonstrated the M7610 Beat Disc. This is a slightly lower featured handset, but still offers a large 2.6 inch TFT screen, 3.0 Megapixel camera and video recording at 15 fps. There is support for 3G for data transfers, and Samsung have also included a 3.5mm audio output jack, something which should be standard on any phone that has music playing as its main focus.
