Skype has delivered an update to their Android app, bringing two way video support to a larger number of handsets.
Originally, Skype supported two way video on just four Android devices, now that has been increased to 17. Skype for Android 2.1 includes support for some of the most popular Android devices around, including the HTC Desire, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II.
It may even be possible to get video calling on your handset even if it is not on the official supported list, provided your device has Android OS 2.2 or above. After downloading and installing Android 2.1, go to the settings and find the 'Enable Video Calling' option, and place a tick next to it. If the option doesn't show in the settings, then it is most likely your device doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements for Skype calls.
It is worth noting that Skype warn video quality on handsets that aren't officially supported may not be up to expected levels and on some devices only the rear camera may work.
Even if your device doesn't support the updated video features, it is worth updating to the latest version of the app as there are a few bug fixes in place, too.
