Sony Ericsson, couldn’t wait until the first day to announce their phones, with news filtering out on the eve of MWC09.
The Sony Ericsson W995 is a Walkman branded handset, complete with an 8.0 megapixel camera. Very often it is commented that people who like music on their phone don’t always want the shoddy end when it comes to imaging, and neither do imaging freaks want to make do with a sub standard music player. With the W995, Sony Ericsson have combined the best of their Walkman and Cybershot brands, offering a high powered camera and top quality music experience in one compact handset. Other features include WiFi, GPS and HSDPA mobile broadband.
Also from Sony Ericsson we saw the announcement of the IDOU (pronounced I do). This top end handset boasts an incredible 12 megapixel camera, and is the first device that will run on a new Symbian operating system, which has been developed by the Symbian foundation. The IDOU also includes WiFi and GPS, and sports a nice sized 3.5 touchscreen, but manages to retain a compact look and feel. The IDOU is a long way from being ready to launch, but if it all comes together it is definitely a handset worth waiting for.
