Swype remains one of the best methods of entering text when using a touchscreen phone. If you have an Android device scheduled for an ICS update, and use Swype, then the good news is the app has now been updated to support the latest version of the Android Operating System.
For those who have yet to discover the delights of Swype, this simple to use text entry service lets you enter data onto your touchscreen smartphone, by swiping your finger from letter to letter to form your words, rather than tapping the letters individually:
Swype was created by the same people who invented the T9 text entry method, which helped speed up text composition on handsets with alphanumeric keypads. Using Swype, it is possible to compose messages at up to 40 words per minute, which is much quicker than the multitap method.
In addition to the new update being compatible with Android 4.0, the newest version of Swype is compatible with DragonGo, and there are new downloadable languages for Tablet devices, too. And as with any update, there are the usual bug fixes and general improvements, including accuracy improvements to help with word recognition when using Swype.
To download Swype, head to beta.swype.com to register/download. Important to note, if you have a device that came with Swype pre-installed, the DON'T download this beta, as it will not work on your phone.
