When technology works as it is supposed to, it brings improvement to our lives, makes tasks easier, assists us with general activities, saves time, and so on. For example, motorised scooters help those with mobility impairments to move around more freely, and where would we be without PC's, the internet, and so on? In the world of mobile technology, too, convergence is striding ahead at an amazing pace, and even most mid-range devices are capable music players, cameras, internet tablets...

Nokia X3 Touch and Type Review

One of the stand-out successes for Nokia over the years would undoubtedly be handsets running on the S40 operating system. This is found on the majority of mid range Nokia devices, and has always proven to be dependable and reliable, with a high level of customisation options available. In recent times, one thing that has been lacking in a S40 device is the availability of a touchscreen display, which the recently announced Nokia X3 Touch and Type resolves. Part of...

In today's modern society, the common claim from most people is 'we are too busy' as if life is somehow so hectic that it is virtually impossible to complete all the things we have to do, let alone all the things we would like to do. The impression is that despite the technology, we live in a world where the resource drain on our time is just too much, and as such certain activities suffer. The truth of the matter...

With all the hype around the iPhone 4 launch yesterday, it would have been easy to miss the confirmation of a new handset in the Motorola Android stable, the Motorola Milestone XT720. And it would be a shame to ignore this handset, because it is a top end, high class smartphone with a fairly healthy spec list. Android has done a lot to help revive the flagging fortunes of Motorola, and with handsets like this one in the pipeline, those...

BlackBerry Pearl 3G Review

When the original BlackBerry Pearl was announced back in 2006, it caused quite a stir. Until that point, BlackBerry handsets were rather large, and chunky, and very wide. But then came the Pearl, and suddenly Blackberry handsets were almost the size of a normal mobile device. The size issue with Blackberry handsets was caused by the inclusion of full QWERTY keyboards, and whilst handsets these days with full QWERTY are a much more manageable size, something like the Pearl still...

Over the last few months, we’ve increasingly started to talk about Android, and about how Android could be the impetus that drives forward a new way of interfacing with your mobile device, and the many benefits this would bring. It wasn’t all that long ago, that if you wanted a decent messaging device your choice was pretty much restricted to a BlackBerry device. Particularly in the corporate market, where access to email on the move has done so much to change the way we work, BlackBerry are the dominant force. But recently, other manufacturers have been eyeing up this lucrative market, and in particular Nokia have done much to make themselves as dominant here as they are in the...
