Vodafone have been busy with a string of updates coming today for phones on the red network.
The first of these is the push out of a software update for the HTC Legend, bring the device up to the latest Android OS version 2.2, also known as FroYo. The Legend update is a welcome one, and comes as a bit of a surprise, given that branded handsets usually receive their updates long after the vanilla handsets have received theirs.
Vodafone have also confirmed that the updates for the Samsung Galaxy S is available from today, with users able to download this update from the Samsung Mobile website. It seems that pressure from consumers does indeed pay, too, as Vodafone have confirmed that the update for the Galaxy S will allow users to remove any unwanted Vodafone 360 branding.
It is not just Android handsets that are receiving an update today, as there is also an update for the recently released BlackBerry 9780. The update brings the firmware to version 6.0.0.294. Details of what is included in this update are scarce, although it probably resolves a few niggling bugs and stability issues. You can download the new OS for the BlackBerry 9780 from here.
As with all software updates, keeping your device updated to the latest version is important, but make sure you have a backup of your important data first, just in case something goes wrong.
