HTC Desire

Vodafone have caused some unrest amongst users of the HTC Desire on their network, after rolling out an update that many assumed to be the much anticipated FroYo update, but which instead proved to simply be a re-branding of the stock Vodafone 2.1 firmware.

In the update, some new Vodafone 360 apps were installed, as well as a new Vodafone branded start-up screen, plus some links were added to the browsers bookmark menu.

Many Vodafone customers who installed the update bombarded the Vodafone Forums, complaining about the update, claiming they were 'duped' into installing it. Some complained about dating sites being included in the bookmarks, but it seems the point that irks users the most is the fact that the 360 apps cannot be removed.

Vodafone have recently had a re-think with the Vodafone 360 service, aiming to bring access to the service to more users across a variety of handsets.

Vodafone state they are currently working with HTC and Google on an Android 2.2 update for their branded HTC Desire handsets, and plan to release this as soon as possible.

If you have downloaded and installed the Vodafone 2.1 update on your HTC Desire, there is a dedicated thread on the Vodafone Forums where you can leave your feedback.
